Shaykh Ibrahim is an internationally renowned reciter (Qari) of the Holy Quran. He is one of select few reciters in the world who has uniquely combined and mastered both the science (Tajweed & Qiraat) and the artistic modes (Maqamat) of Quranic recitation. Shaykh Ibrahim memorized the Quran at the age of 7 under the tutelage of his father, the late Shaykh Mamdouh Bakeer. Among his teachers include the late Shaykh Muhammad El Helbawy, one of the most decorated reciters of the 20th century. He holds an exceptional ijazah for reciting the Quran with one of the shortest chains of narration comprising of 35 Qaris between him and the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ through the companion Abu Musa Al-Ashari (RA).
Shaykh Ibrahim holds a Master’s degree in Quranic Science from Al-Azhar University. He served as an Imam in over 15 countries and is famed for leading Taraweeh and Qiyam-ul-Layl around the world. He is the founder of Maqamat Institute, which specializes in providing academic and practical training in Quranic recitation, and has had the honor of teaching two imams serving at Masjid Al Haram.
